The pH miracle diet is based on the concept of maintaining a balance of pH in the foods that we consume. Lots of acidic foods can cause your system to become unbalanced because the human body is slightly alkaline, thus it is better to eat more alkalizing foods. Acidic foods can cause problems like poor concentration, tiredness and weight gain. It can even depress your immune system, which in turn leads to more serious health problems.
When you go on the pH miracle diet, you will receive a list of acidic foods that should be avoided. The list of alkalizing foods is important because these foods balance the pH of your body and is better for your health. Even though pH, alkaline and acid is common terms, people still do not understand what it means in terms of general health and nutrition.
The word “basic” is used to describe the properties of alkalinity and acidity. It is derived from the Greek word “basis” which simply means the foundation of something. In food the acidity and alkalinity are determined at the basis or foundation of the cells from which the foods are made up of. Food is either acidic or alkaline at their base and cannot be changed.
In chemistry acid and alkaline are opposites, so interaction will result in conflict and salt is formed as a result. When these interactions take place in a chemist’s lab, it is very straightforward and simple. When it happens in our bodies, however, the interaction can be much more complex as a result of the scale that these bases and acids meet.
The effects of alkaline and acids in the human digestion system are generalized by science. Acid is formed in our bodies when we take in acidic foods. Saliva, blood and lymph become more acidic and the pH number lowers dramatically. Alkaline foods on the other hand, cause a higher pH number because saliva, lymph and blood become more alkaline.
The normal pH for saliva should be between 7.3 and 7.4, yet in most people it is too acidic which results in a very low pH. In turn people feel tired and their bodies are “unbalanced”. Acidic foods lead to muscle fatigue, which can then prevent your body from producing physical results.
When you eat acidic foods, free radical oxidation occur which in turn leads to faster aging. The absorption of minerals and vitamins are affected and acidic food also affects the digestive system because the friendly bacteria in the small intestine die. A further result of high levels of acid in the intestine is the inability of the intestinal walls to absorb nutrients. Toxins build up in cells and cannot be removed. Acidic food can prevent the majority of bodily systems from functioning properly.

Muscle output is improved which in turn leads to more physical energy. The increased absorption at cellular level allows cells to function properly. Yeast overgrowth and parasites are reduced in the intestines. Your skin will look more youthful, headaches, flu and colds will decrease and your sleep patterns will change to deeper and more restful sleep.
The one most important difference between alkaline and acid foods is the relationship to cancer. Healthy tissues are alkaline while cancerous tissues are acidic. Oxygen combines with hydrogen ions to form water when it enters an acidic solution. Oxygen is supposed to neutralize the acid but the acid prevents the oxygen from reaching tissues where it is needed. On the other hand, when oxygen enters an alkaline solution, two hydroxyl ions combine with the alkaline solution; one oxygen atom and one water molecule are then created. This oxygen atom can now go to the next cell and all the tissue in the body can benefit from the oxygen. Cancer cells become inactive at a pH of just above 7.4 and at a pH level of 8.5, the cancer cells die and healthy cells stay alive.
So, by alkalizing your diet, you will reap many benefits as well as prevent cancer. By incorporating the choices you will find on the alkaline food list, your body and health will benefit.
