If you have to balance life and a busy working schedule it is not always possible to stick to a healthy diet, even one as easy as the Alkaline Diet. While it is a good idea to always keep something alkaline to eat on hand there are times when you just don’t have time to stop and prepare something. For those days you need a simple and quick and easy way to get more alkaline into your diet without having to lug all sorts of food around.

Lucky for you, there is a super easy way to get more alkaline into your diet without having to sacrifice precious time or having to spend lots of money on some of the products that are being promoted as “must have” by some Alkaline Diet gurus.

Two items that will not bankrupt your wallet that you should always try and have on hand are:

a) Baking soda (bicarbonate of soda or bicarb)

b) Lemons or Limes

Baking soda is well known for being very alkaline and is a super easy way to add more alkaline into your diet on a daily basis. It is one item that you should make an effort to always have on hand. Fortunately it is super cheap so you can buy a tub for both home and the office.

The alkaline solution:

To make a nice alkalizing drink, mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda along with the juice of a 1/4 lemon or lime and add it to a 400ml glass of water.  You can drink this 3 times a day.

Take it early in the morning on an empty stomach, again at lunch time and then last thing before you go to bed at night.

You might have to get used to the taste of the baking soda at first but it will grow on you eventually. The lemon or lime juice aids in adding more alkalinity to the drink, but it also adds a bit of flavour.

You will find yourself eventually craving this drink especially on a hot day when it can be very refreshing. Just add ice to it, as well as a lemon or lime wedge, a sprig of mint if you can, and you have a super healthy sundowner!
