Ah. Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The rumbling in your tummy, the unbearable pain as it travels from your stomach through your intestines like an unstoppable train. I can’t tell you how many nights I sat in front of the TV with a hot water bottle on my stomach just to try and ease the pain and discomfort.

I read up a lot about IBS and bought more books than I care to remember. I watched TV programs on people with IBS going throught the most embarrasing processes  (from bowel cleansing and coffee enemas to digging around in faeces) to try and cure their IBS and still no cure on the horizon.

I read some of the most mindnumbing methods that one had to go through to try and rid yourself of the pain of IBS. The medications that one had to buy and the rituals you had to go through, apart from the fact that it would be really time consuming it is also really, really expensive.

Supplements recommended included the following:

  • Probiotics
  • Vitamin C
  • Butyrate
  • Body Bio Balance
  • Oral Electrolyte Concentrate
  • Liquid Trace Minerals
  • Evening Primrose Oil
  • Ox Bile!
  • Galt-immune
  • Pepogest
  • Lipase
  • Ground Organic Flax Seed
  • Vitamins & Minerals
  • Magnesium Formula 1
  • Vit B Complex
  • Amino Acid Supplements
  • Ionic Silver
  • Candizyme
  • Coconut & Palm Oil
  • Freeze dried Garlic
  • Cilantro
  • Bentonite
  • Psyllium Husk
  • Water

All of the above apparently has to be included in the daily regimen, as well as no carbohydrates at all!!  So, I’m just wondering – who really benefited from this – the person with IBS or the companies that sold them all of this stuff!

To be quite frank – IBS is your guts way of telling you that it does not like what you are putting into it! Plain and simple. You don’t need to fast, I don’t think fasting does one’s body any good.  You don’t need to detox.

What you need to do is to watch what you put into your body – the Alkaline diet gives you great guidelines for that.

To cure your IBS simply put – you need to follow the Alkaline Diet, drink lots of water, and implement some of the basics like lemon, baking soda and cayenne pepper into the daily run of things. And of course exercise when you can.

I have never looked back since I started eating right and I am completely pain free.  I don’t have IBS anymore nor do get heartburn or acid reflux as regularly as I used to. I owe it all to common sense eating as prescribed in the PH miracle diet.

NB: Now, if you suffer from IBS I do not recommend that you immediately drop whatever program your health care worker or doctor has you on. You should probably carry on with it while slowly incorporating the Alakaline diet into your daily regiment. You are the only one who can judge what makes you feel better and once you are starting to feel better, you can slowly drop all of the other things that you currently are doing without it having a negative impact on your health.
